Pay transparency is the practice of openly and proactively sharing information on organizational compensation practices, including pay rates for specific positions, pay increases, bonuses or commission structures, benefits, retirement plans, or any other specifics about pay. Pay transparency is a major step toward achieving pay equity.
Signed into law in 2018 as an update to the decades-old Equal Pay Act, lawmakers revisited the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act in 2022. Changes to the law went into effect January 1, 2023, requiring business that employ at least 15 people to make a salary range and description of benefits and other compensation part of all job postings. Additionally, equal pay laws exist in nearly every state, but laws that require companies to provide pay transparency are still a new trend.
Why Should You Attend:
While there is plenty of research out there about the advantages and disadvantages of pay transparency, stories of organizations that have successfully embraced it are much harder to find.
